Two warm, mostly sunny days. The third, cooler and potentially wet.
That’s what Long Islanders are looking at for the Memorial Day weekend, with those favorable skies, happily, expected for Saturday and Sunday when the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach State Park runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Summerlike conditions are expected those days, with the weather pattern shifting for Monday, bringing cooler temperatures and setting the stage for a possible round of showers, said Jim Connolly, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Upton.
Indeed, highs Saturday are forecast for the low 80s — cooler, though, right on the shore. The sky should present a mix of sun and clouds, he said, as of the late Friday afternoon forecast, with good viewing for those air show maneuvers.
Look for those conditions to be pretty much repeated Sunday, though the evening hours bring a chance of showers, with a 70 percent chance of showers on Monday, the weather service said. Monday is expected to be cooler, with highs in the low 70s and increased humidity, Connolly said.
Though conditions are still subject to change, Monday is the day that, as of Friday, “doesn’t look great,” he said.
