Forecast: LI could get up to 7 inches of snow

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for heavy snow for Long Island and New York City.

The advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday. Weather officials predict snow accumulations of between 4 and 7 inches by the time it ends.

The heaviest snow will fall early Thursday morning.

Less snow is predicted for southern Westchester County. A winter weather advisory is in effect there during the same period.

Between 2 and 5 inches of snow is expected.
