Long Island weather: Showers and a little less heat to round out week

A heat advisory will remain in effect for Nassau County through 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a chance of scattered showers, but temperatures are expected to be less extreme for the rest of the week, the National Weather Service said.

Conditions across Long Island are forecast to be damp on Thursday, with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms. The forecast high is 84 degrees, the weather service said.

There is a 30% chance Friday’s clouds will deliver rain and thunderstorms. A high of 84 degrees during the day is expected.

Saturday looks to be the pick of the weekend, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 82. Sunday will be partly sunny with a 30% chance of showers, forecasters said, with a high near 80.
