Abundant sunshine is the forecast for Long Island on Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.
Thin cirrus clouds will stream in from the northwest through the day, the service’s Upton office said. Even with the clouds, sunshine will dominate and temperatures will climb toward 80 degrees.
News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said Wednesday has “nice weather conditions, warm, a good beach day.”
He sees highs pushing slightly past 80 with winds shifting from the northwest to the southwest at 5 to 15 mph.
After about 1 p.m., Hoffman said a sea breeze will kick in, dropping temperatures a bit.
Clouds increase during the nighttime hours and into Thursday morning, Hoffman said. Overnight lows approach 60 degrees.
On Thursday morning, expect clouds to linger with a chance of morning showers. Gradual clearing makes for partly sunny skies and daily highs in the mid 70s.
