Rip-current risk Saturday, but skies to clear

The rain is expected to clear out by 11 a.m. on Saturday with temperatures expected to reach the lower 80s in parts of western Nassau County, the National Weather Service said.

But for those venturing out to the beach on Saturday, meteorologist Joe Pollina warns of a moderate risk of rip currents on ocean-facing beaches. The risk is expected to gradually diminish during the late afternoon, Pollina said.

Saturday's early morning storms are expected to give way to sun throughout Long Island this afternoon with temperatures expected to stay in the upper 70s.

Evening temperatures are expected in the lower 60s throughout most of Long Island and in the upper 50s in eastern Suffolk County.
