Long Islanders might want to delay putting their warm weather clothing away until after the end of the week: Spring and summerlike temperatures are predicted, forecasters said.
News 12 Long Island meteorologists call the warming front “very weak.” It will move across the Island on Monday, bringing light showers and cloudy skies, mainly in the morning. Highs will reach the lower 70s, with lows at night near 61.
“It looks like above-normal temperatures will be moving in Monday through Wednesday,” said Matthew Tauber, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service at Upton. “We’re going to have high pressure sitting off the southeastern coast bringing up more warm and humid air before it gets cooler later.”
Mostly sunny skies are ahead for Tuesday, when highs will be near 75 and lows near a balmy 63.
Another sun and clouds mix is forecast for Wednesday, when highs will reach near 77 and lows will be near 62.
Thursday will bring lots of clouds and highs near 69. Lows will dip to 63.
A breezy day with showers likely will start off the weekend on Friday, when highs will be near 68 and lows near 58.
Tauber said the normal lows for this time of year are the mid 40s to around 50.
