Forecasters are predicting a touch of summer weather this weekend on Long Island, despite the calendar saying it's fall.
The warm temperatures and sunny skies are expected to last through Monday, according to the National Weather Service. Sunny skies and a high near 81 degrees and a low of 61 degrees is forecast for Saturday, the weather service said.
On Sunday, more sun is anticipated, but the high will dip slightly to 79 degrees, with a "calm wind" about 5 to 7 miles per hour and a low of about 62 degrees, the weather service said.
The forecast for Monday is for partly sunny skies and a high near 79 and a low of about 59. By Tuesday, a 40 percent chance of rain is forecast, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 71 degrees, the weather service said.
The first full day of fall was Tuesday.
