Skies over Long Island will likely be rain-free from Sunday through Tuesday, with temperatures rising to above-average levels before the middle of the week, the National Weather Service said.

But a 60 to 70 percent chance of rain is expected Wednesday night, and it will persist until Thursday afternoon, said Lauren Nash, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service's regional office in Upton.

Sunday is expected to stay sunny and clear, with temperatures ranging from a morning low in the high 40s to a daytime high of the low 60s.

Temperature highs will rise from the high 60s on Monday into the low 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday, which would be about 10 degrees higher than normal for this time of year, Nash said.
