According to the report, NYPD officers fired their guns in 45 incidents in 2012, compared to 36 times in 2011. The report also found that 16 suspects were killed in those shootings in 2012, while only nine people were killed in 2011.

The numbers are part of an annual firearm discharge report made public by the NYPD.
