Lax gun laws in southern states are the gaping loopholes in rational northeast gun laws.
Pretty much all of the criminal gun cases in the tri-state area involve weapons purchased legally (and easily) with no background checks from pawn shops in Georgia, the Carolina's and Virginia.
They are then shipped up i95 in car trunks to be sold cheaply to people who use them to rob banks, shoot each other and make life generally very dangerous for our police.
