Kathleen M. Loftus, 53, of Harvey Cedars, N.J., and formerly of Sloatsburg, died March 18, 2013, with her family by her side.
She was born Aug. 22, 1959, in New York City to parents Denis and Kathleen (Linehan) Barry, according to Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, which handled her funeral arrangements and published her obituary.
She was raised in Sloatsburg and attended Suffern High School and SUNY Geneseo. She worked for many years as an advertising executive in New York City.
She married Dr. James B. Loftus on Nov. 27, 1993. In addition to being an active member of the PTA in the local schools on Long Beach Island, she enjoyed volunteering her time fundraising for various events for her community.
Survivors include her husband, James; a daughter, Kathryn; two sons, James and John; her parents, Denis and Kathleen Barry; nine siblings, Siobhan and Robert Dineen, Denis, Maura, John, Anne Fehring and her husband, Tom, Kathy Martin and her husband, Keith, Kate Loftus and her husband, Bob, and Brigid Loftus and her husband, Bill; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to Waves for Water Hurricane Sandy Relief Initiative.
