Letter: Changing carol was ‘thoughtless’

What better way to ensure offending someone than to deliberately choose a beautiful, beloved Christmas song, deliberately corrupt it, and then perform it at a school concert?

If the intent was to avoid offending non-Christians, why not just choose another song? The stated reason for including “Silent Night” was that it was “a beautiful song, and we wanted the children to experience it,” according to school principal Rudy Massimo.

I fail to see how school officials did not think some people would be offended by this. This was thoughtless and inconsiderate.
