Foley home sale's not a boon

After the Suffolk County Legislature rejected the sale of the John J. Foley Nursing Facility, County Executive Steve Levy was quoted saying, "It's a terrible blow to taxpayers" ["Foley sale rejected," News, Dec. 8].

Has Levy ever told homeowners exactly how much the sale of the nursing home would save them? Is it $3 or $7 yearly?

As we all know, the biggest portion of homeowners' taxes are school taxes. The county portion of the total tax bill is small in comparison. Yet Levy wants us to think he is saving us a bundle. It just isn't so.
