Frustrated by tax breaks on Long Island
Now the Hempstead Industrial Development Authority is hiring outside lawyers [“IDA hires lawyers after rescinding tax breaks,” News, June 21].
The agency rescinded the ridiculous tax break for the Green Acres Mall to help lessen the tax burden on residents. Now the taxpayers will pay for lawyers to defend the IDA.
The IDAs are also flooding the Island with housing at a time when businesses and stable, working families are leaving [“Tax breaks OKd for building luxury units,” News, June 23].
What will this do to the Island and home values if there are no jobs to support these new homes?
Maybe the taxpayers should hire lawyers to abolish the IDAs.
