GOP health care plan will hurt the poor

It’s amazing that the Koch corporate empire boldly hosted its three-day retreat for the wealthy and powerful on the weekend before the Senate had planned to vote on a health care bill that includes tax breaks for the rich [“Crucial days for Senate health bill,” News, June 25].

It’s amazing that Vice President Mike Pence would make an appearance at the retreat and meet with Charles Koch. It’s not hard to imagine the topic of conversation. The only question is what percentage of the tax “relief” funds will turn up in Republican campaign coffers for 2018 and beyond.

The cost for all of this will be lost medical services to Medicaid recipients and other poor Americans. Aren’t these the voters who chose President Donald Trump and his running mate to improve their lives?
