Your article regarding the very low level of voting sparked an idea that could really work [“The big turnoff,” News, Nov. 8].
We should have a two-tier voting system. One would work exactly as it does now, and the second tier would involve voting via the Internet.
Each county could set up a website. Those who wish to vote via computer could register and receive a password. Come Election Day, they need only go on the website, the ballot would come up on the screen, and they could vote.
No doubt I am missing some details in the whole scheme, but it is viable, and I’m sure it would dramatically increase voting.
