Ben Carson's claim that German Jews could have fended off the slaughter of millions during World War II was ridiculous and preposterous ["Armed Jews could have altered history," Letters, Oct. 20]. It takes him out of the realm as a viable presidential candidate.

That Jews could have armed themselves with guns makes as much sense as saying Carson's forebears could have avoided slavery by acquiring weapons to free themselves and their families.
