A flier in my mail from a group called Reclaim New York offered the opportunity to be a part of a “movement,” because state government can’t be trusted. I could become a “Reclaimer” by signing up at a website.

With research, I discovered that Rebekah Mercer and other conservative people are behind Reclaim New York [“Trump’s LI power players,” News, Nov. 13]. They advocate for charter schools.

The next day, Donald Trump nominated Betsy DeVos for education secretary. She is another wealthy conservative and advocates converting public school funding into vouchers for students and parents to use for private or charter schools. All of us need to start paying attention to what is really going on.
