Olympic gold medalist Derrick Adkins faces an obstruction charge after his arrest in Long Beach ["Olympic medalist arrested in Long Beach," News, Sept. 20].

It seems he was arrested because he refused to move from a bike safety lane on the boardwalk at midnight, and tried to flee from an officer who was giving him a summons after two warnings. The bike lane could not have been crowded at midnight. I have been on that boardwalk during the day and have seen walkers in the bike lane, and no one asked them to move.
