Having traveled the Sunken Meadow and the Sagtikos state parkways for years, I believe that potential improvements are quite obvious based on density and use ["Giving a lift to the Sag," News, Sept. 23].

Specifically, increase the lanes on the Sagtikos, from the Long Island Expressway or the Northern State Parkway south. This would accommodate the current and projected future flow from the Heartland housing project. Also, add a bike-hike route on the Sunken Meadow, going north from the LIE or Northern State. The bike route would allow for travel directly to Sunken Meadow State Park, easing summer congestion.

Finally, perhaps Heartland should contribute to the Sagtikos lane expansion for other considerations given the benefits the project owners will derive.
