I have followed the coverage of the Nassau Veteran's Memorial Coliseum, the lack of good paying jobs on Long Island, and the struggle over the future of the Long Island Power Authority/National Grid with great interest ["The push to win Coliseum job," News, May 28].

I suggest a big-picture solution: develop the Coliseum site as a solar energy farm. The reconstruction of the site would produce good paying, short-term jobs for the construction trades. The ongoing operation would require technically skilled workers, engineers and managers.

This would be better than more low-paying jobs in shopping malls or food services.
