Letter: Dig deeper into dead plants and flowers

I enjoyed the article on the strange happenings at the site of New Hyde Park’s Hillside Avenue flower beautification project [“Flower failure,” News, Sept. 22].

If I understand the article, despite someone being paid for working overtime on the project, the flowers and plants died for lack of water and weeding. What I’d like to know is, who in the highway department was responsible for that watering and weeding and who collected overtime pay? When those questions are answered, we can pin the tail on the donkey.
