Letter: Dogfighting deserves incarceration

Asbury Park dog-fighting ring busted in nationwide sweep

Asbury Park dog-fighting ring busted in nationwide sweep

Dogs cannot speak, but I can. Calling dogfighting a brutal crime is an understatement [“Bill would intensify dogfight penalties,” News, Oct. 3].

Healthy animals are used to maim and kill each other as bettors watch this horror. People who bet on death are a sick group. No animal should be subjected to abuse.

People read about dogfighting, but we don’t know how to stop it. A good place to start would be to increase the penalties for this serious crime.
