Letter: Faulting Clinton on Benghazi

“The U.S. failed its diplomats” [Editorial, June 29] fell short. Newsday neglected to mention some of the most egregious failings of Hillary Clinton and the Obama administration.

Clinton lied to the American people, blaming the attack on a video, while privately admitting to her daughter and world leaders that the attack was planned. What is even more reprehensible is that Clinton perpetuated this lie by telling the grieving families that the rage and violence aimed at American missions was prompted by “an awful internet video.” Some of the families remember it this way, others do not.

These actions were designed to protect the president’s re-election chances. Is it any wonder that Clinton is perceived as untrustworthy?
