My goodness! I had to shake my head at articles written June 30 [“Lower pool charges for firefighters,” News] and July 4 [“Firefighter swim fees reduced,” News].

These men and women volunteer their time to save lives for our communities, and what does the Town of Oyster Bay offer them? A mere $2 off admission to town pools! If the town has deemed them deserving of a reduced rate, why in the world wouldn’t it gladly and gratefully give them free admission?
