"Time to get the ball rolling" [Editorial, June 2] promotes gambling and is a troubling sign of the times. Gambling capitalizes on some people's desperation for financial gain in a poor economy, and signifies our society's moral deterioration.

The gambling industry promotes a vice and is not creative or nourishing to man's better nature. It would be much more constructive to see people with the gifts of innovation and invention create industries that employ our citizens.

The darkest hour in a man's life is when he tries to attain money without earning it.
