Letter: Is Trump speaking for his supporters?

This presidential election cycle is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before [“Taking aim in pivotal places,” News, Sept. 20]. We have two extremely unpopular figures running against each other, and what we hear mostly is that voters are not picking the candidate they like but the lesser of two evils. That sounds pretty desperate.

But here is what is more troubling. Donald Trump is arrogant, vain, insulting and unapologetic. That Trump has so many supporters among the voting population surprises me. They say that today’s voters are angry. Could they also be filled with the vitriol coming out of Trump’s mouth and find in him a kindred spirit, saying what they want to say?
