There is no reason to build the Heartland project ["After its diligent review, Islip should OK Heartland," Editorial, July 6].

How many houses are abandoned and foreclosed in Suffolk County? How many town house communities are in the Town of Islip? And of those, how many have vacant units?

What is the amount of revenue lost on the tax rolls of Islip and Suffolk County because of the foreclosures? More housing isn't needed. How about rehabilitating abandoned houses and selling or renting them to lower-income families?

More housing would tax our water supply and sewer treatment plants.
