Letter: Keep criminals behind bars

So the president signed an executive order mandating the enforcement of gun control laws to prevent purchases by terrorists, criminals, gangs and people who are mentally ill [“Obama takes aim at NRA,” News, Jan. 8].

I wonder who thinks these folks will abide by these laws? This is the same president who ordered the Justice Department to release 6,000 nonviolent drug dealers from prisons. This is while expressing concern for the safety of Americans!

Maybe if we just ended the revolving-door justice system and kept criminals in prison longer, we would all be safer.
