Letter: Let Nassau’s OTB go bankrupt

I agree with Newsday’s editorial “Don’t let OTB rip off taxpayers” [April 28]. I question why any money, which should belong solely to Nassau County, is being siphoned off to keep the debt-ridden and money-losing Nassau Regional Off-Track Betting Corp. afloat.

Let OTB go bankrupt. Newsday identifies politics and patronage on the part of both political parties as the forces that keep OTB open. This is just another manifestation of how Nassau County got itself into such poor financial condition.
