When is Long Island going to wake up and select a site for a casino [“Casino fate uncertain after canceled vote,” News, July 12]?
All this hesitation about where it will be costs Long Islanders benefits and money that go to other states — New Jersey and Connecticut.
Why shouldn’t Long Islanders have a casino? How badly can casinos affect areas where they are? There are lots of ideal, nonresidential sites north of the Long Island Expressway between exits 64 and 70. The Islandia site is perfect and close to the Expressway.
