Russian billionaire Yuri Milner is supporting Breakthrough Listen's attempt to find "intelligent extraterrestrial life" to the tune of $100 million ["Anyone else out there?" News, July 21]. This is money poorly spent. It is a pipe dream.

It seems that $100 million could be spent on something exceedingly more beneficial, such as helping to bring people around the world out of poverty and poor health.
