Letter: Make a quiet donation to a charity

I know it is difficult for the police to stop fireworks on Independence Day [“When will neighborhood fireworks stop?” Just Sayin’, June 25].

Millions are spent on illegal fireworks in the United States each year. To all who buy these fireworks, how about taking that money and donating it to a charity?

Perhaps cancer research could benefit from these funds, and we can leave the fireworks shows to the professionals.
