Touché for Legis. Sarah Anker (D-Mount Sinai) for calling Newsday to task for its unflattering view of her political abilities [“Newsday editorial was disrespectful,” Letters, Dec. 9].

In its pre-election endorsements, Newsday’s editorial board threw Anker under the bus to place her opponent in a better light with voters. What was most profound was the statement that Anker’s knowledge is “limited.” Really? She has been an elected official since 2011 because she cares about the communities she represents.

We need more women like Anker to represent issues facing our county. To diminish her worth and the work she puts in does a disservice to Brookhaven and Newsday’s readers.
