I have to respond to the letter “Do-nothing Congress led by GOP” [Aug. 16]. The writer correctly states that the Republicans fought Obamacare. Not a single Republican voted for it when it was passed by Democrats in Congress and enacted by our president.
However, the writer ought to know that once Obamacare became the law of the land, Republican leader Mitch McConnell and his Senate staff enrolled. My sister, Sharon Soderstrom, is his chief of staff.
Sen. Harry Reid, the Democratic majority leader at the time, and members of his staff remained in the federal employees health care plan.
Which leader showed true character?
