I find Michael Dobie's column "Tough mudder on road to 2016 vote" [News, Aug. 26] a sound prescription for campaign reform. I heartily agree with him about the waste of time and money that candidates spend on elections.

Other democracies do it better. They limit time, money and advertising. The information surprised me, as it will many Americans.

We need to restore integrity and sanity to our dysfunctional electoral system. We could reclaim our democracy and respect in the world.
