While Nassau Executive Edward Mangano paints a rosy picture of Nassau County in his annual State of Nassau County report, the Nassau Interim Finance Authority shows a $36 million hole in the 2017 proposed county budget [“Propaganda is in the mail,” Editorial, Dec. 1].

Taxpayers elect a county executive with the expectation that he or she will balance the budget. We need an executive who knows how to pare government waste, not services that taxpayers depend on.
