Recently, I've seen letters in Newsday about the bad roads on Long Island ["Leased cars make sense on Island," Letters, Aug. 31].

For my part, I would like to commend and thank the state, the town and certainly the workers who did a wonderful job replacing the pavement on South Oyster Bay Road and Hempstead Turnpike.

Not only did they do such a wonderful job but with little or no inconvenience to us drivers.
