Newsday’s editorial, “A critical effort for safer roads” [July 1], is very true — but in my opinion, fixing roads is not the answer.

People walk while on their phones, not paying attention to what’s going on around them. They can’t wait until they get home?

It’s a “me, me” population. With car crashes into homes, jumping curbs, etc., I have to ask, are these motorists licensed, and do they know how to drive? More law enforcement may be the answer.
