Letter: "The Family" maligns Italians

I saw the movie "The Family" with Robert DeNiro, Michelle Pfeiffer and Tommy Lee Jones. This family is in the witness protection program and is barely in its new locale when the mom sets the local grocery market on fire, the dad is attacking everyone in sight who doesn't conform to what he wants, and the high school-age daughter is beating a classmate senseless.

Movies that have senseless violence but are portrayed as comedies are nothing new for Hollywood, but the title "Family" was gravely misused in this flick. Not only was it an insult to many who are of Italian heritage, but it maligned a wonderful institution: a real family.
