In reference to “Route 110 plan to ‘calm’ road” [News, June 7], I find it hard to believe the solution is to plant trees and put up fences. I travel this section each day, and it takes me 15 minutes to go three miles.

For far too long, the answer to making our roads safer has been to put up another light. I can tell you that as more lights go up, people travel faster and faster to beat these lights.

Why are these lights not timed better? This would almost guarantee me a travel time I could count on, and I’m willing to bet it would make the roads safer.
