I’m thankful for the great investigative work done by Newsday in shining a light on the continual pay-to-play culture in Nassau County [“$16M in Nassau pacts amid political giving,” News, Feb. 2].
Why is a contractor from Louisiana making multiple contributions to a county executive in a state hundreds of miles from where his companies are based? He claims that he likes to play golf, and “many Mangano fundraisers are golf events.”
Many of the donations were made just days before or after his company was awarded county contracts. Are Nassau officials so sure of their positions, or do they think we residents are so stupid that they can get away with this with impunity?
I’m sick of people getting rich on the back of Nassau County taxpayers.
