I would like to comment on Donald Trump’s description of his “Access Hollywood” comments as “locker room banter” [“No holds barred,” News, Oct. 10].

This implies that such comments are common and acceptable in venues where women are excluded, and should therefore be excused.

I’ve been involved in sports for most of my life and have spent a lot of time in locker rooms. I’ve heard a lot of positive and enthusiastic talk of girlfriends, spouses, jobs, bosses, families and holidays, as well as some grumbling on the same topics and an occasional off-color joke.

I want to assure women that what Trump asserts is in no way normal. In locker rooms I’ve been in, I’m certain his words would have been soundly condemned.
