Recently, I was trying to enjoy a pleasant day at the beach with my family and my children’s friends.

I was boogie-boarding with the four children, ages 8 to 12, when two boys about 14 years old came up and asked whether we’re voting for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump [“Why ‘alt-right’ poses a real challenge,” Opinion, Aug. 30].

One of our group responded, “Clinton,” and the boys began to yell hateful comments. You all should vote for Trump, they said, he’s much stronger!

Their parents were nowhere in sight. But let’s not forget the source: Trump himself, who seems not to have a clue about the bullying and name-calling he’s promoting.
