Donald Trump has told crowd after crowd that if he becomes president, he is such a great deal maker that we as a nation are going to win so much that we will get tired of winning [“Trump fires up Reddit crowd,” News, July 28].

But somehow he was unable to navigate a deal to require Sen. Ted Cruz to submit his speech to the Trump campaign two days in advance, not two hours, in exchange for the opportunity to speak to the Republican convention in prime time. That deal would have given the campaign and the Republican National Committee the chance to avoid embarrassment and see whether there was an endorsement.

This would seem to have been an easy deal, especially for the supposed artist of the deal. Under a Trump administration, Americans might not see any of the promised winning and will just get tired of the bluster.
