I’m tired of the efforts by the media, including Newsday, to discredit Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump [“Trump’s reckless way with words,” Editorial, Aug. 10].

On Aug. 9, Trump said: “Hillary [Clinton] wants to abolish — essentially abolish the Second Amendment. By the way, if she gets to pick, if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know.”

Any fair-minded person would never interpret his comments as an implied threat to her life.
