I’ve been reading with amusement about the nine chickens and roosters that walked around and annoyed residents in Plainview [“Flying LI coop to sanctuary,” News, July 12].

This story said seven had been captured, and the hunt was on for the others.

Talk about an immediate response!

Why hasn’t there been as much concern and response about the Canada geese that have taken over our parks, communities and children’s playgrounds as well as the airports? At soccer and baseball fields where our children play, the droppings are everywhere.

I live in a senior complex, and I was greeted on a recent morning by 18 adult geese, ripping up grass and plants and leaving their disgusting and unhealthy droppings on sidewalks and streets. They’re even hostile when approached.
