Once again, Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano is trying to slough off county bills on someone else. He wants the towns, cities and villages to foot the cost of elections [“Nassau: Bill the towns,” News, Sept. 23].
As a taxpayer, it matters little to me because it comes out of the same pocket. But as a resident of Oyster Bay, it might matter to me because the town has an even lower credit rating than Nassau. This is thanks to the worst administration in recent memory.
Mangano has tried before to push tax refunds down to the towns. Fortunately, he did not succeed. The county is notorious for fighting to escape paying stuff. This usually results in it spending time and money in a losing cause.
