I take exception to your editorial "In Ferguson, a potential turn" [March 13]. Newsday's editorial board writes about an officer who shot and killed an "unarmed teenager," but failed to mention that this teenager had just robbed a store and attempted to attack the officer.

You also failed to mention what helped to trigger this black-white discord, namely the Rev. Al Sharpton and other people outside of Ferguson. This discord led to looting, rioting and the outrageous murder of New York City police officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu.

Newsday didn't mention the lack of respect shown to our police officers who are sworn to protect and defend all of us, black or white.
