Consultant John Turner has suggested placing solar panels on a bridge that Suffolk County officials are planning for Smith Point Park [“Solar panel idea pushed for bridge,” News column, May 29].

Turner also suggested placing panels on the 7-mile grass median along William Floyd Parkway.

South Korea has built a 20-mile stretch of solar panels over bike lanes on the median along a six-lane divided highway between the cities of Daejeon and Sejong.

I agree that it makes sense to site our renewable energy projects in places where there is no adverse environmental impact. Hopefully, Suffolk public works officials will get on board.
